After the senior tournament in Gabon now AFCON’s youth version will be kicking off this weekend in Zambia. This year’s under 20 tournament will be the 20th edition of the biennial international youth football tournament organized by the CAF for players aged 20 years and below, Victor Muisyo has details on that.
2024 OLYMPICS: BUDAPEST DROP BID
Hungary’s government announced on Wednesday it would withdraw Budapest’s bid to host the 2024 summer Olympics, citing a lack of political and national unity behind the application that it blamed on the opposition.
We won’t get into the nitty gritties of Hungarian politics; but Budapest’s withdrawal means now the two remaining candidate cities are Los Angeles, and Paris.
PIE-EATING MAN QUITS SUTTON FC Sutton’s reserve goalkeeper Wayne Shaw was caught by cameras munching on a meat pie in the dugout, as his team trailed 2-0 in the FA Cup last 16 tie.
The 46-year-old’s publicity stunt has failed to impress the FA and the clubs hierarchy, and the player has resigned from the club. As it turns out, there was a betting company offering odds of 8-1 against him eating a pie on camera, which has prompted the FA and England’s Gambling Commission to launch an investigation on whether he breached the gambling regulations.
